Anchor

We are proud and lucky to have been able to acquire The Anchor Mare, another amazing find at Tom Price’s. When we first met her we went through bag after bag of bread as Kate tried and failed to snag a bit of mane hair from her in the field. (With Tom’s help we were successful and now she comes to us right away for some love and a cookie.) We also learned about her history from Tom. Had she not had such an obvious anchor on her side, she probably would have been referred to as the Bacon Sandwich Filly, but that is a story we will get around to retelling later. Suffice to say, The Anchor Mare is an exceptional mare who was bred by the Vines. We believe that Anchor is at the top of the quality pyramid. She literally has it all. She is easy to handle and sweet, has loads of hair, little ears and head, a chunky body and correct, big boned legs to set it on. This year she produced a lovely embryo transfer filly, SSFR Bella, with The Hustler. We are live covering her with Teddy for a 2011 foal. Along with V. V. Voiletta, The Anchor Mare truly “anchors” our breeding program in the finest quality available, as promised here at Superior Stables. 7/10
