                “Charlie”

Charlie is exactly what we hoped for when we crossed SRS First Down, a Black Jack grandson, to our imported chestnut mare Bracken. We know that color is the icing on the cake, but beyond his obvious quality, chestnut (red) is a recessive color, so it is hard to get. If there is a red gene present, it is hidden by black. I personally prefer blue roans and grullo duns to red ones, but from a breeding point of view, a red based horse provides more color possibilities in its offspring. You may notice that many our stallions are red based. They have been selected over ones of similar quality because they do not carry black.

Charlie was born in April of 2020. He also carries aguti (bay), and has produced bay roans as well. As with all of our stallions , he is PSSM 1 and FIS free. He has proven to be a calm yet responsive riding horse. We are proud to have bred and used this exceptional herd sire, who is
now for sale. We are planning to grow out 2 of his colts as his
replacements and have kept some of his fillies.
