“Richie”

SSFR Rich and Rare 

Richie was bred by us, but his dam was sold before he was born. That is why in 2016 he came into the world in Texas. We did not know what an amazing horse he would become. His dam Cici’s
Silver Queen is a lovely silver buckskin tracing back through Cici’s Sir Keith to the incomparable St. Clarins. As time has gone by, I am more and more impressed with the quality, we are looking for, coming from this line.

Stallion heavy at the time, Richie was sold as a 2 year old to the McNabb family in Wyoming, where he matured, was trained to ride, and sired several foals. In 2021, Kate showed me Ida‘s photo of him and I said “It is sad that he was gelded.” Kate said “No, he is still a stallion.” I knew that we had to buy him back for our program if we could.

Richie carries aguti (bay) and W20. He has the sweet temperament of his sire Whiskey (Sahlem’s Country Maker’s Mark), now my ride and drive gelding. We had Richie trick trained by Karla June to rear on command. He has also caried the American flag at our local rodeo. Richie is 14.3hh.
